East Coast Credit Union received a $5,000 grant from Concentra Bank (“Concentra”) in support of the Antigonish Emergency Fuel Fund. Through its annual Empowering Your Community campaign, Concentra invites Canadian credit unions to submit grant applications for exceptional community projects. The Fuel Fund offers emergency relief for members of the community of Antigonish who are in immediate need of financial support to heat their homes during the winter. Funding comes from donations made by community members and local organizations, including East Coast CU.

The future of home care
As a collaboration among credit unions, East Coast led the charge in organizing a $100,000 donation to the VON for their new VON Connect platform. This software will allow the VON to provide more valuable care for clients in their own homes reducing the demand on our healthcare system in Nova Scotia. Cutting edge software, VON Connect will transform the way we deliver healthcare here at home.

Each One, Teach One
A no-obligation Canadian Credit Union program, volunteer East Coast staff deliver easy-to-understand community workshops on a variety of money management topics. From basic budgeting to home ownership, there is something for everyone in this program.
Sessions provide basic and plain language financial knowledge, without ties to any products or services, with the sole goal of empowering individuals to make the right financial decisions for themselves and their families. Atlantic Business Magazine honours those with corporate leadership excellence and, in 2005, Atlantic Business Magazine launched its Top 50 CEO legacy program: The Hall of Fame awards. East Coast CU is excited to announce that Ken Shea has been inducted in the Top 50 CEO’s Hall of Fame after being a five-time Top 50 CEO award winner.
